Playing golf for a good cause
The Franz Beckenbauer Foundation receives a handsome amount from the WTS Charity Golf CupMunich, 19.05.2011 – On 13 May 2011, WTS invited representatives from business, high-calibre tax experts and well-known personalities from the world of sport and the media to the WTS Charity Golf Cup on the Gut Riedhof golf course in the south of Munich. The tournament, which was for the benefit of the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation, raised the considerable sum of EUR 65,000. This amount will provide help to the physically and mentally disabled and to those in need through no fault of their own.
"Social responsibility is very important to us, as one of the largest German tax consulting firms. The Franz Beckenbauer Foundation is well known for providing fast and unbureaucratic assistance", says Fritz Esterer, Chairman of WTS.
WTS's involvement in this field comprises social and cultural projects. Last year, too, the WTS Charity Golf Cup made a sizable donation to the German Childhood Cancer Foundation (Waldpiraten Deutsche Kinderkrebsstiftung). During the Christmas period WTS is regularly involved in a special action to provide financial support for different social facilities. These include, for example, the St. Martin relief organisation, the Hiege Foundation against Skin Cancer and the Bärenherz Foundation for seriously ill children. The Fortesse management consultancy firm, which handles the Consulting business field within the WTS Group, recently contributed to the "Marketplace for Good Causes, Munich" in the form of a noteworthy donation of their time.
Besides its social involvement, sponsorship of cultural events is also important to WTS. The series Kunst am Isartor (Art at the Isartor) shows four to five exhibitions per year, with the works on display ranging from photography to paintings and sculpture. The aim is to provide young artists from Munich and the surrounding area in particular with a platform to exhibit their work to the general public on an "open house" basis.
In cultural activities WTS also supports the Gut Immling Opera Festival as a premium partner. The annual performances are a secret tip for connoisseurs of the opera scene.
During the WTS Charity Golf Cup on 13 May 2011, a number of key figures in finance, business and tax joined forces with Franz Beckenbauer and other well-known guests from the world of sport and media to conquer the green in glorious weather. Following the tournament, a press meeting was held with Franz Beckenbauer and two WTS directors, Fritz Esterer and Prof. Hemmelrath. The fine event then continued with a tombola and an auction.
